Estimate the Size for a Party Tent

,Estimate the number of guests that will attend your party. Allow a margin of error for guests who fail to RSVP to the event.
,Determine the type of seating, if any, that you will provide at the party. Theater-style seating only requires about 5 square feet per person, round tables that seat eight to 10 people need about 100 square feet per table and 12-foot rectangular banquet tables with seating for 12 need about 120 square feet per table.
,Provide enough room for a head table to accommodate the wedding party at wedding receptions. A wedding party of 12 people will need another 12-foot banquet table and 120 square feet of space.
,Allow room in your estimate for a dance floor with 3 square feet of dancing space per guest if you plan to have one. Not all guests will utilize the dance floor, but make sure there is plenty of room if they all choose to dance.
,Leave room for entertainment features like a disc jockey table and equipment, band and stage. A 10-by-10-foot space works for most disc jockeys, but bands may require more space depending on the number of members and instruments.
,Decide whether you will serve a plated meal or provide buffet service to your guests. Buffets require more room under the main party tent because you need a table for the food and room to form a line, but you might need a second tent to accommodate the equipment and food for a catered meal with wait service.
,Factor in space for additional features like a fountain, a gift table or an open bar if you plan to have these at your party. Leave about 100 square feet for a fountain and gift table and up to 200 square feet depending on the size of the bar.
